Guidelines from the CDC have recommended that optometry practices throughout the United States defer routine eye care at this time in order to slow the transmission of COVID-19 through our community.  We will continue to follow their recommendations and will be limiting our patient care to urgent and emergent cases at this time.

What Constitutes an Eye Emergency?

Please call our office immediately if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  • New onset of floaters or flashes of light in vision
  • Blackout or sudden decrease in vision in one or both eyes
  • Eye pain
  • Double vision
  • A pink eye or any signs of eye infection (including discharge, general irritation, or light sensitivity)
  • Eye Trauma
  • Foreign object propelled into the eye (such as: metal from welding or grinding metal, glass, chemicals, or other)
  • Swollen eyelids or a new, tender lump or bump inside one of your eyelids

If you have any questions about what constitutes an urgent eye exam, please don’t hesitate to call our office at (970) 493-6360. In most cases, it is more appropriate for an eye care professional to see you rather than to visit urgent care as our offices and doctors have the proper equipment and training to diagnose and treat all eye emergencies and may also provide better isolation for you from potential cases of COVID-19.
